Abstract

This research paper, explores the intricate relationship between the built environment and gender inequalities in Haryana, India. By adopting an architectural lens, the study investigates the allocation of spaces and restrictions experienced by women in both historical and modern contexts. Through a review of leading researchers and cross-disciplinary perspectives, the paper emphasises the need to consider architecture as a mode of inquiry to better comprehend the dynamics of enclosed and restricted spaces. Additionally, the research delves into the significance of combining sociology, anthropology, and architecture to address gender-based disparities and promote social sustainability
