Application of traffic noise map at the University of Mosul, main campus
Main Article Content
Abstract
The University of Mosul is enclosed by a network of streets with high traffic flow. It also has an internal road system. The campus is consequently exposed to several kinds of noise. On the campus, thousands of students and employees are clearly impacted by traffic (and other sources of noise). With reference to the local road system, this study attempts to quantify the noise levels at certain locations on the campus. With the use of a GIS framework, the data were processed and mapped. Contouring and interpolation techniques have been used to view the spatial distribution of noise intensity.
